Amul Dairy’s milk procurement prices to increase
As announced made by Amul Dairy’s Chairman Sabhesinh Parmar, due to escalating input costs and pressures within the dairy sector, a rise of Rs 10 per kg of fat in the procurement prices for its cooperative member milk producers and milk pourers has been done, which will be effective from June 1.
Following this adjustment, the procurement price for buffalo milk supplied by cooperative members will increase from Rs 865 to Rs 875 per kg of fat. Consequently, the price for buffalo milk with 6 percent fat content will rise by Rs 0.61 per litre, changing from Rs 53.44 to Rs 54.05 per litre, while milk with 7 percent fat content will now be priced at Rs 63.06 per litre, an increase of Rs 0.72 from Rs 62.34.
Amul Dairy also revealed an increase in cow milk procurement prices. The new rate will go from Rs 384.10 to Rs 388.65 per kg equivalent fat, marking an increase of Rs 4.55 per kg equivalent fat. After this revision, producers supplying cow milk with 3.5% fat content will receive Rs 36.68 per litre, which is an increase of Rs 0.43 per litre, while the procurement price for cow milk with 4 percent fat will rise by Rs 0.45 per litre to Rs 38.68 per litre.
Additionally, Amul Dairy announced a final price of Rs 1,035 per kg fat for the financial year 2025-26, which it stated is the highest in its history and among the top procurement rates in Gujarat and the national dairy sector.
Further, Amul Dairy indicated that increasing input costs and challenging global economic conditions have exerted pressure on the dairy sector, prompting the adjustment in milk procurement prices. Chairman Sabhesinh Parmar noted that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has impacted oil-dependent economies and industries globally, with the dairy sector also experiencing the impacts.
