Milled rice export increases from Cambodia to China
As reported by the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), during the first 7 months of 2025, Cambodia exported 420,572 tonne of milled rice, resulting in total revenue of 309 million US dollars.
A total of 51 companies exported the Kingdom’s milled rice to 65 countries and regions during this January-July period of 2025, according to the report, which noted that China remains a significant importer of this commodity.
In the first 7 months of this year, the Southeast Asian country sent 105,621 tonne of milled rice to China, generating 62.1 million dollars in revenue, as stated in the report.
CRF Secretary General Lun Yeng said that approximately 77.65 percent of the exported rice was fragrant rice, 15.61 percent was white rice, 3.27 percent was parboiled rice, 2.61 percent was organic rice, and 0.86 percent comprised other varieties of rice.
Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, indicated that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement and the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement have established a robust foundation for Cambodia’s agricultural exports to China and other RCEP nations, benefiting from tariff reductions.
“Through these trade agreements, several Cambodian products, particularly high-quality agricultural items such as milled rice, yellow bananas, mangoes, longans, peppercorn, and durians, have been exported to China with preferential tariffs,” he stated.
Lun Yeng, CRF secretary-general, noted that the export performance of rice in the first 7 month was better than during the same period last year. He also highlighted that how the government is pushing for funding support to rice mills to accept and process more paddies.
The Ministry of Agriculture reports that Cambodia possessed a total of 3.54 million hectares of rice fields, yielding an annual production of 12.49 million tonne (mt) of paddy rice. The President of the Cambodia Rice Federation said that the Cambodia Rice Federation has established an ambitious target to export no less than 10 lakh tonne (lt) of milled rice by the year 2025.
