Brazil expects a record level of soybean processing

As per revised estimates from the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (ABIOVE), the country is likely to a record level of domestic soybean processing in 2026. This positive outlook is bolstered by strong crop yields and increasing demand for processed products.
The updated forecast indicates that soybean crush volumes will reach 61.5 million tonne (mt), reflecting a 0.8 percent increase from earlier predictions. This underscores the domestic industry’s capability to manage larger quantities of raw materials and generate higher value-added products.
Also, production of soybean derivatives is anticipated to increase, while soybean meal output is projected to be 47.4 mt, while soybean oil production is estimated at 12.35 mt, further solidifying Brazil’s position not only as a leading exporter of raw soybeans but also as a crucial supplier of inputs for the food and energy sectors.
Daniel Furlan Amaral, Abiove’s Director of economics and regulatory affairs, states that these figures demonstrate the sector’s maturity. The upward revision suggests that the industry is well-equipped to transform a record crop into protein and bioenergy, thereby enhancing both food and energy security.
In terms of foreign trade, Brazil continues to hold its leading position. Soybean exports are projected to reach 111.5 mt, while soybean meal exports are expected to total 24.6 mt; additionally soybean oil shipments are forecasted to increase by 3.4 percent, amounting to 1.5 mt.
Recent statistics reinforce this optimistic outlook. In January 2026, soybean processing achieved 3.689 mt, marking an 8.9 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to adjusted data.
