Australia’s almond exports saw a record in December

The Almond Board of Australia (ABA) released its position report for December recently this year. The report details the quantities and destinations of almond exports from Australia, similar to the reports issued by the Almond Board of California.
In December 2024, Australian exporters sent out close to 14,000 tonne of almond, setting a new record for that month. This achievement brings the total for the crop year to date to 158,500 tonne, surpassing the totals of previous seasons with two months remaining for reporting.
Additionally, this volume exceeds the reported production for the 2024-25 crop year for the second consecutive year, marking a shift from earlier years when production levels were higher than shipments.
The report stated that China remained the leading destination for Australian almond with importing 75,000 tonne, representing a 130 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The almond import to India from Australia has also increased to nearly 20,000 tonne, reflecting a 10 percent rise from last year. These increases stand in contrast to the reduced volumes from the USA, with a portion of the shift attributed to exports from Australia.
